Summary
Rate of Pay: Salary, Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Shift Schedule: 5/5/4 (12 hour shifts, day/night)

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Will work under the direction of the Mill Metallurgy & Assay Foreman, and alongside the shift assayers in the mill environment.
  • Spend more than 50% of their work hours in the field; supervising and coaching shift assayers to ensure that safety, production turn-around, QA/QC standards are met and that procedures are followed. 
  • Will oversee day-to-day operation of the assay lab in the field and will conduct the daily line-up, address shift assayer concerns and promote company directives as required.
  • Recommend advancement and conduct discipline of shift assayers as they see fit in consultation with the Mill Metallurty & Assay Foreman.
  • Responsible for developing and following procedures and methods to safely, accurately, and precisely product and report assays and re-assays of Mine, Metallurgical and mill samples from sample receipt through to final reporting of the results in a timely manner.
  • Will also entail solution and supply preparation, assistance with lab equipment and instrument maintenance to ensure timely turn-around of samples and input/assistance/analysis of assay lab data.
  • Responsible and accountable for implementing safety, quality control and quality assurance, as well as trouble shooting when errors or issues occur.
  • Will assume assay roles & responsibilities of the Mill Metallurgical & Assay foreman in their absence, and will remain competent and current with all shift assayer tasks.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Able to perform all tasks within the assay lab.
  • Able to work independently and within a team setting.
  • Self Motivated.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Experience performing all tasks within the assay lab.
  • Prior experience in supervision an asset.
  • Clear understanding of QA/QC.
