Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the stable operation and expansion of the surface and underground plc network. This includes developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing PLC hardware and HMI programs.
  • Analyze current systems on site, devise and deliver solutions to enhance quality of process and to prevent future problems.
  • Creation of CAD drawings to communicate project plans.
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) on surface and underground.
  • Conduct research on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of ICS procurement and development efforts.
  • Running of electrical, instrumentation and communication cabling on surface and underground.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
  • Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Perform calibrations of instruments
  • Draw or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of experimental electronics units.
  • Ensure functionality of all supported systems.
  • Complete modifications when required to HMI projects.
  • Cover both UG and Industrial Mill environments
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as boards, peripherals etc.(up to 20kgs)
  • Some cable pulling and working from ladders as well reaching or working above your head.
  • Keep work are clean to maintain a safe clean working environment.
  • Prioritize work and multi-tasking while following Standard Operating Procedures, working safely and lead by example.
  • Any additional duties that may be necessary to operate in a safe manner keeping in mind that quality and safety is priority.



  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Coursework in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering Technician/Technology, Electrician – Construction and Maintenance or equivalent work experience.
  • Red Seal certification preferred.
  • Excellent Safety work ethic.
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team structure.
Rate of Pay $29.50 - $34.00 /hour
