Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Utilize technologies and work with partners and stakeholders to develop geological models and a global mineral resource estimate following NI 43-1-1 standards and the best practice guidelines
  • Manage and update the long-term geological resource model and oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the short-term geological models to produce a resource estimate.
  • Work with the engineering in the accurate development of reserves
  • Work as with different teams to generate long term mineral resource growth strategies while ensuring adherence to all statutory requirements and Company safety, Health and Environmental standards and Procedure. 


  • Post-Secondary Education preferred.
  • Strong appreciation and knowledge of structural & production geology
  • > 5 years in gold and underground
  • >2 years block modeling (Datamine preferred)
  • Strong ability with geological software (Datamine, Fusion, DH Logger, AutoCAD etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter and ability to lead
  • High safety standards
  • Exceptional time management Skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrate ability to mentor subordinates
  • Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised, although strong team player 

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting, computer use, keyboard skills
  • Lifting, up to 20 Kg ground to waist height occasionally.
  • Occasional push pull
  • Daily standing, walking over uneven ground
  • Occasionally in awkward positions- squatting, Kneeling and bent over
  • Environmental conditions can be: Hot, cold, humid, wet and dusty. Lighting is restricted. May be excessive noise.UG Airflow is artificial.
  • Ground conditions may be wet, muddy slippery, sloped inclines, loose rocks and obstacles on the ground.

Additional Skills/Professional Characteristics

  • Registered Professional Geologist of Ontario (P.Geo.).
  • Minimum B.Sc. in geology or Tertiary education in Geology
  • Strong academic and applied background in structural geology
  • High level knowledge of Macassa geology preferred
  • Capacity to coach, guide, influence and develop others.
