Summary
SHIFT SCHEDULE 5/2 - days
RATE OF PAY Salary, Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting all phases of surface and underground exploration programs in accordance with the Company’s operating philosophy and Health/Safety policies
  • Actively supporting and promoting a Zero Harm safety culture
  • Planning and budgeting of brownfield and greenfield exploration programs across the Company’s land holdings - including mapping, soil/ bedrock sampling, geophysical surveys, diamond drilling etc.
  • Managing project contractors and related project costs to ensure projects are completed in line with budget expectations
  • Monitoring and tracking drill hole progress, logging drill core, mapping and sampling in both underground and surface environments, interpreting and validating exploration data
  • Conducting site visits and performing safety audits on contractors in both surface and underground environments to ensure adherence to applicable safety standards
  • Ensuring all relevant QA/QC controls are being effectively followed during completion of project tasks
  • Continually updating and improving the geological model as new information is received
  • Generating exploration targets and advancing exploration concepts in a collaborative team environment
  • Effectively liaising with other mine departments and project team members
  • Actively participating in the generation and reporting of the Company’s annual MRMR estimates
  • Supervising and mentoring junior geologists and technicians

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Geology with 5-10 years experience in exploration – prior experience in the Abitibi preferred
  • Registration as a Professional Geoscientist in Ontario required
  • Prior practical, technical and supervisory experience to support appointment to Senior role
  • Ability to adapt and react to project changes and challenges while remaining focused on long term Company vision
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate team members which includes listening to and promoting employee input/feedback
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English (proficiency in French an asset)
  • Proficiency with geostatistical and geospatial software packages (Datamine, ArcGIS) as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Positive personal attitude consistent with the management of personnel and with the goals/objectives of the Company
  • Receptive to other duties/projects as required
  • Physically fit with the ability to work in hot and cold surface and underground environments and on uneven terrain
  • Valid driver’s license
