Duties and Responsibilities  includes:

  • Compiles, administrates, organizes and maintains GIS databases in required formats and directory structure including geological, engineering, topographical, and legal data. Includes establishing and maintaining standards for data structure and naming conventions. Ensure security of GIS data on the geological server and backups.
  • Maintains Company Mining claims data in GIS format.
  • Creates and updates geological drawings, diagrams and maps for press releases, public displays, corporate presentations, field work, legal documents and geological reports in ArcGIS and maintains file on these products.
  • Geo-spatially referencing vector, raster and similar data.
  • Completes compilation of technical data (geological, geophysical, topo, etc.) in ARC GIS and makes plots of geological data to support exploration projects.
  • Ensure security of geological server and backups.
  • Assists in training staff in use of ArcGIS.
  • Interacts with Exploration employees, Engineering Group, Mine Operations and Environmental Group as directed.
  • On occasion, will be required to manage QA/QC on drillhole assay data and input into database (Fusion). Follow QAQC protocol and identifies issues to Senior and or Project geologists responsible for specific projects and follows through to ensure action taken.
  • Adheres to the Health/Safety and Loss Control Program requirements.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.


  • Must be graduate in an earth sciences program, minimum B.Sc. or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Capacity to support, coach and direct employees who report to this position
  • Deliver required GIS maps, images, etc. in efficient manner
  • Geology (B. Sci.) degree from recognized University with eligibility for P Geo designation or be registered as a GIT, with minimum one - three years of Exploration or Mine geological experience. A Diploma (1-2 years) and/or training in GIS preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with GIS data, preferably with a geological exploration or Mining Company providing services to geologists and 1-2 years work experience in drafting providing of publication quality drawings for reports and press releases preferred.
  • Must hold valid Ontario motor vehicle license.
  • Working knowledge of variety of computer software applications including: MS software such as Excel, Word, and Access, drafting programs such as Corel, AutoCad, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, etc.
  • Exposure to the following geological software programs: Arc GIS or MapInfo, Target for ArcGIS, and other geological software that include Datamine, Fusion, Geosoft Montaj, etc.
  • Experience with geological data entry (MS) and managing geological databases, especially ArcGIS.
  • Experience in use of Datamine and checking QAQC for drill holes data and importing into a drill hole database, preferred Fusion database.
  • Gather data, plan, organize and prioritize work, delivering timely and accurate information.
  • Requires strong analytical and trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with fellow workers and various work groups. Team player – works well with others.

Rate of PaySalary, Commensurate with experience and qualifications
