Summary
SHIFT SCHEDULE: 5/5/4, 10 hrs, D/N
RATE OF PAY: $34.00/ hour

Duties and Responsibilities of a Miner 1 include

  • Completed & ongoing competence with required core modules:
  • Perform Mechanical Cut and Fill Mining Non Captive Stope and/or Perform Undercut and Fill Mining, Scoop draw point, Haulage trackless, Install and maintain Underground pipe system, Ventilation and maintenance, PAN, DRAISE, Operate 1 Boom and or 2 Boom Jumbo, other competencies as per the KLG Underground Mining Classification Guideline.
  • Competently perform all Mining 2, 3 & 4 functions (Prod/Dev’t)
  • Demonstrate competence in relevant UG Hardrock common core,
  • Housekeeping – keep work areas clean free from hazards
  • Communication – listen to and communicate with others, keep accurate records on 5 point card, aligning with daily tasks
  • Teamwork – work with others to meet and where possible exceed daily KPI’s set by Supervisor.
  • Other duties as applied from time to time

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Miner 2 or equivalent (>6 years UG)
  • Physically Fit, self starter with can do attitude
  • Tolerance for hot, cold and humid environments
  • Demonstrated Safety awareness
  • Literacy and Numeracy to minimum year/grade 10

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

  • UG Common Core (Ontario)
  • UG Mining Knowledge and experience (Miner 2 for at least 2 years)
  • Similar role type experience in another operation

Physical Demands:

  • Shift work Day and Night
  • Ground to waist height up to 40kg occasionally, 10 kg frequently
  • Waist to shoulder height up to 40kg as capable
  • Carry up to 40 kg as capable
  • Occasional to frequent heavy push pull. Occasional sitting
  • Constant standing. Constant walking over uneven ground
  • Occasional to frequent working in awkward positions – squatting, kneeling, bent over
  • Working with arms overhead
  • Tool use
  • High physical strength and endurance demands
  • Environment conditions can be: hot, cold, humid, wet, dusty. Lighting is restricted. May be excessive noise. Airflow is artificial.
  • Ground condition s may be wet, muddy slippery, sloped inclines, loose rocks and obstacles on the ground.
