SHIFT SCHEDULE:                       





Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Competency in Basic Mill Common core and working toward other modules for Operator 2 as required (KLG Mill Operations Training Classification Guideline)
  • Maintaining accurate records of operation and identification of operation outside normal operations
  • Rectifying operational matters where authorised and informing supervisor where required
  • Ensure all pre start checks are completed and regular plant checks are performed.
  • Ensure house keeping is maintained at a high standard
  • Adhere to Mill Operation standards
  • Ensure all required sampling is completed and recorded appropriately
  • Capacity and willingness to work in Crushing, Grinding or elution circuit
  • Flexible and competent approach to work areas, supporting others learning with your own
  • Other duties as prescribed


Experience and Qualifications

  • Literacy and numeracy to meet requirements of role
  • 4 years experience as a an operator 3 or equivalent
  • Mechanically minded to appreciate operations within acceptable parameters and ability to note subtle differences
  • Team focussed, work independently and with others


  • Works in Mill Environment (mostly enclosed) exposure to environmental conditions can be hot, cold, noisy, dusty, etc
  • Walking & Climbing – the Mill functional areas are only accessible via stairway(s) this is a physical requirement.
  • Sitting/Standing: active non-stationary environment. Bending/Stooping: cleaning, removing debris.
  • Crouching: Balancing: must be agile
  • Lifting to and above shoulder height
  • Sample preparation may require lifting of up to 20kgs
  • Noise from machines require hearing protection >85dBA
  • Chemicals require mandatory PPE with attention to safe storage and awareness of potential chemical interactions
  • Hot/Cold environment: Exposure to hot/cold work may take place
  • Vibration: workplace has large rotating machinery (ball/sag mill) and conveyors
  • Hosing: working with pressure vessels including tanks, hoses and pipes
  • Chemicals: environment has chemicals requiring appropriate PPE and safe handling of reagents
  • Equipment Use including but not limited to overhead gantry cranes, forklifts and other vehicles
  • Hand hygiene and awareness of cross contamination from hand to mouth and associated daily hygiene to be observed
  • Hearing, Vision, Spatial perception all critical in physical requirements of this role
  • Shift work up to 12 hours duration for shifts both days and nights
  • Managing fatigue and remaining fit for work
