Summary
Rate of Pay: Salary, Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Shift Schedule: 5/5/4, 10 hrs, Days

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for directing the activities of the Occupational Health Services area.
  • Provide Occupational Health Service to all employees including education, promoting of positive health models and prevention of illness and injury.
  • Provide primary care for Occupational and Non-Occupational injuries and illness, including assessments and implementation of modified work programs.
  • Provide annual flu shots and immunization to all employees and contractors; with appropriate directives.
  • Support WSIB, STD, LTD Claims Management through return to work programs and continued assessment.
  • Administer Occupational Health medical surveillance programs, return to work, and periodic assessments.
  • Maintain audiology testing program, lead level screening, as well as the vision screening program.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping systems in compliance with Occupational Health standards.
  • Identify health needs of employees, develop objectives and implement programs in health promotion, maintenance and rehabilitation.
  • Develop and maintain a liaison with health and service agencies in the community.
  • Co-operate with and act as a resource to the appropriate personnel in developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Participate in professional nursing organizations and assume responsibility for professional growth and development.
  • Develop a preventative health environment ensuring compliance with all policies, legislation and regulations affecting health and medical requirements.

Qualifications

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN.
  • Minimum five years’ acute care nursing and/or occupational health diploma or certification, disability claim management.
  • Critical Incident Stress Debriefing training.
  • Valid Standard and/or Advanced First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and experience with SAP would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety and Act and the Workplace Safety Insurance Act.
  • Previous experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team structure.
