Anthony (Tony) Makuch President & Chief Executive Officer

Anthony (Tony) Makuch holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Honours Applied Earth Sciences) from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, and both a Masters of Science Degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from Queen´s University in Ontario. He is a professional engineer (Ontario) with over 35 years of management, operations and technical experience in the mining industry, having managed numerous projects in Canada and the United States from advanced exploration through production.

Prior to joining Kirkland Lake Gold, Mr. Makuch was President and CEO at Lake Shore Gold Inc., from 2008 until its acquisition by Tahoe Resources on April 1, 2016, where he became the Executive Vice-President and President of Canadian Operations. Between January 2006 and March 1, 2008, Mr. Makuch was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for FNX Mining Company Inc. From 1998 to December 2005 he held progressively senior positions with Dynatec Corporation, including VP, Operations. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Makuch worked with Kinross Gold Corporation at a number of their North American operations; which included his role as General Manager of the Kirkland Lake Operations at the Macassa Mine and Timmins Operations – Hoyle Pond Mine.

David Soares Chief Financial Officer

David Soares was appointed Chief Financial Officer for Kirkland Lake Gold in November 2018. He is a seasoned finance and mining executive with over 15 years of experience reflecting progressive senior leadership roles with multinational mining companies including Xstrata, Glencore, and Barrick.

Prior to joining Kirkland Lake Gold, he served as CFO of Baffinland Iron Ore Mines Corporation, a joint venture between Arcelor Mittal and Nunavut Iron Ore. David has demonstrated values-based leadership in business transformation, strategic planning and execution, large scale commercial negotiations, and capital financing. He has international governance experience having served as a Director of national level organizations representing industry and the private sector. Mr. Soares holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA, CA) from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, a Master of Business Administration from the Ivey Business School, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.

Alasdair Federico Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs & CSR

Alasdair Federico is an experienced lawyer and business executive with over a decade of experience in corporate strategy and governance, including managing negotiations and relationships with investors, business partners, and other stakeholders. Prior to joining the Company, Alasdair was Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Lake Shore Gold Inc., from 2008 until its acquisition by Tahoe Resources in April 2016. Prior to joining Lake Shore Gold, Alasdair worked for a prominent Canadian law firm in Toronto. Alasdair holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario.

Christina Ouellette Executive Vice President, Human Resources

Christina Ouellette was appointed Executive Vice President Human Resources in February 2017.

Ms. Ouellette is a seasoned Business HR Professional with over 20 years’ experience in organizational design, performance management, employee engagement, compensation design, talent and succession planning and merger and acquisition integration. She has a proven track record in providing strategic HR direction and guidance to support the operational and corporate objectives of the Company. Prior to joining Kirkland Lake Gold, Ms. Ouellette was the Vice President, Human Resources of Lake Shore Gold Corp. from 2008 to October 2016. Ms. Ouellette was integral in the transition and acquisition of Lake Shore Gold Corp. by Tahoe Resources. Previously, Ms. Ouellette was the Manager, Human Resources at FNX Mining from 2006 to 2008 and the Manager of Human Resources, Sudbury Operations, for the Dynatec/FNX joint venture from 2004 to 2006. She holds her Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) professional level designation and has obtained the Institute of Corporate Directors ICD.D designation.

Eric Kallio Senior Vice President, Exploration

Mr. Kallio is a geologist registered with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (“APGO”). He has over 30 years of experience working on exploration and underground and open-pit mine planning, scoping and feasibility studies in Canada and abroad. He has also been instrumental in the discovery or advancement of several successful projects including the Dome Mine Open Pit in Timmins ON, the Detour Gold Open Pit near Cochrane ON, the Island Gold project near Wawa, ON and, recent discoveries by Lake Shore Gold in the Timmins gold camp. He has played a key role in early stage drilling and evaluation work for the Back River Project, in Nunavut, the Shakespeare Project, west of Sudbury and the Mary River project, in northern Baffin Island.

Most recently, Mr. Kallio was Vice President, Exploration (Canada) for Tahoe Resources Inc. since April 2016 and, prior to that, was Vice President, Exploration for Lake Shore Gold Corp. Among other corporate assignments, Mr. Kallio served in a variety of senior exploration and mine geology roles with Placer Dome, Kinross Gold, Patricia Mining Corporation, Centerra Gold and Detour Gold. He has also worked as a consultant on several Canadian and international exploration projects and is a former director of Holmer Gold Mines Limited.

Doug Cater Vice President, Exploration – Canada

Doug Cater is a professional geologist with over 30 years of industry experience gained while working with senior Canadian based mining and exploration companies. Most recently he served as the Vice President of Exploration with St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. since 2012 and was responsible for resource expansion, and testing targets on the company’s 120 kilometre strike length of claims along the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone. Mr. Cater previously held the position of Project Manager, Back River Gold, with Sabina Gold and Silver Corp., from 2009 to 2012 and Exploration Manager with Dundee Precious Metals Inc., from 2005 to 2009. Mr. Cater also worked as Chief Geologist from 1995 to 1997 at the Macassa Mine while under operation by Kinross Gold Inc. Mr. Cater is a University of Waterloo graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree and is a council member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO), representing the Southwest Ontario district, and member of the Minister’s Mining Act Advisory Committee (MMAAC). Mr. Cater is also a Director of Sierra Metals Inc.

John Landmark Vice President, Exploration – Australia

John Landmark’s international career spans a diverse range of executive leadership, technical and advisory roles in exploration, mining operations, human resources, and safety risk management. John brings over 30 years of international mineral exploration and mining industry experience. John joined Newmarket Gold in 2016 and led the company’s exploration activities while being the Group functional head for Geology. Prior to joining Newmarket Gold, John was a Regional Head of Exploration for Anglo American plc, where he managed exploration programs for copper-gold, iron ore and coal in Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Mongolia. Prior to this role, John led Anglo American’s exploration activities in Brazil. His exploration and mining geology career started out in South Africa and Namibia, and he then moved on to Australia. John holds a Master of Science in Exploration and Mining Geology from James Cook University in Australia and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology from Wits University in South Africa.

Pierre Rocque Vice President, Canadian Operations

Mr. Rocque is a mining engineer with over 25 years of experience. He has worked at many gold mines in Canada, including as Vice President Engineering for St Andrew Goldfields, Director Technical Services at Lake Shore Gold, Chief Engineer at the Red Lake, QR and Macassa mines, Rock Mechanics Engineer at Hemlo's Golden Giant Mine and various mining engineering roles at Hoyle Pond and Agnico-Eagle's Joutel mines. Mr. Rocque also worked as Manager Mine Improvement Projects and Chief Engineer-Geotechnical at WMC (now BHP Billiton) Olympic Dam mine in Australia. Most recently, Mr. Rocque was the Global Practice Director – Mining at Hatch. Mr. Rocque graduated from l'Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal with a Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering and from Queen's University at Kingston with a Master's degree in Mining Engineering.

Ian Holland Vice President, Australian Operations

Ian Holland was previously the General Manager of the Fosterville Mine since 2010 and has worked there since 2007. He is a geologist by background with over 20 years of experience at a number of gold and base metal operations across Australia. Prior to joining Fosterville, Ian filled a range of technical and management roles at the large-scale Mount Isa Mines complex in Queensland from 2001 to 2007. Previous operations include Mount Gordon Copper Mine in Queensland and the Renison Mine in Tasmania. He holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Minerals Geoscience from James Cook University, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute.

Jennifer Wagner Vice President, Legal

Ms. Wagner is a corporate securities lawyer with over a decade of experience in the mining sector. Prior to joining Kirkland Lake Gold in July 2015, she acted as legal counsel and corporate secretary to various TSX and TSXV listed mining companies. Ms. Wagner has extensive experience advising companies on a variety of corporate commercial transactions, governance and compliance matters. She started her career at a prominent Canadian law firm in Toronto. Ms. Wagner received a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and an LL.B. from the University of Windsor.

Raymond Yip Vice President, Business Intelligence

Raymond Yip is a computer engineer with over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, with 10 years in the mining sector. Most recently, he served as Director, Information Systems for Lake Shore Gold Corp. since 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Yip provided IT consulting services to various mining companies including QuadraFNX, DMC Mining and Torex Gold. Having held progressively senior positions at a major Canadian telecommunications company, Mr. Yip has diverse IT experience across various industries including financial, healthcare and automotive. Mr. Yip holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Queen’s University.

Mark Utting Vice President, Investor Relations

Mark Utting is a Chartered Financial Analyst with over 25 years of experience in investor relations and corporate communications, mainly in mining and financial services industries. Most recently, Mr. Utting served as the Vice President, Investor Relations for Tahoe Resources Inc. Prior to that, Mr. Utting served as the Vice President, Investor Relations of Lake Shore Gold Corp.; Director, Investor Relations of Extendicare REIT; Director, Communications and Investor Relations of Dynatec Corporation and Director, Investor Relations of Rio Algom Limited.

Brian Hagan Vice President, Health Safety and Environment

Brian Hagan brings over 35 years of experience implementing health, safety and environmental management systems in North American mining industry. Mr. Hagan previously served as the Vice President, Health Safety and Environment for Lake Shore Gold Corp. from 2008 to 2011. Prior to this role, Mr. Hagan was the Mine Manager of the McCreedy West Mine for FNX Mining Company. Prior to his role at FNX, Mr. Hagan spent 12 years as the Director of Health and Safety for Dynatec Corporation. Mr. Hagan is a former Chairman of the Ontario Mine Contractors Safety Association and has served on the Ontario Mining Legislative Review Committee.
