Anthony (Tony) Makuch President & Chief Executive Officer

Anthony (Tony) Makuch holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Honours Applied Earth Sciences) from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, and both a Masters of Science Degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration from Queen´s University in Ontario. He is a professional engineer (Ontario) with over 35 years of management, operations and technical experience in the mining industry, having managed numerous projects in Canada and the United States from advanced exploration through production.

Prior to joining Kirkland Lake Gold, Mr. Makuch was President and CEO at Lake Shore Gold Inc., from 2008 until its acquisition by Tahoe Resources on April 1, 2016, where he became the Executive Vice-President and President of Canadian Operations. Between January 2006 and March 1, 2008, Mr. Makuch was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for FNX Mining Company Inc. From 1998 to December 2005 he held progressively senior positions with Dynatec Corporation, including VP, Operations. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Makuch worked with Kinross Gold Corporation at a number of their North American operations; which included his role as General Manager of the Kirkland Lake Operations at the Macassa Mine and Timmins Operations – Hoyle Pond Mine.

Darren Hall Chief Operating Officer

Darren Hall has a proven track record of increasing production, reducing operating costs, improving capital effectiveness and promoting health, safety and business excellence while maintaining a strong team working environment. Darren has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry and has proven to be a successful and trusted leader through his operational accomplishments. As COO, Darren brings a strong reputation for managing large workforces and multiple underground and open pit gold mines in a variety of jurisdictions. Darren joined Newmarket Gold in 2015 and was responsible for maintaining a strong foundation of quality gold production, yielding record operational results. Prior to joining Newmarket Gold, Darren worked for Newmont Mining Corporation where he held roles of increasing responsibility throughout the organization for almost 30 years. Under his leadership as Group Executive Operations for Newmont Asia Pacific, Darren managed a team of 14,000 employees producing 1.8 million ounces of gold annually from six operating mines across three countries. He also worked with Newmont in Peru, Indonesia and the United States and in Australia as General Manager of the Boddington Gold Mine where he led a team of 1,800 employees producing 750,000 ounces of gold annually. Darren graduated with a Bachelor of Mining Engineering (Hons) from the Western Australia School of Mines in Kalgoorlie.

Philip Yee Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Philip C. Yee is an experienced senior finance executive with an extensive background in financial management and reporting, financial and operational recovery, M&A, international risk management and strategy development. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant with 25+ years of experience and success including 15+ years as a member of high caliber senior management teams leading world-class mining operations. Most recently, Phil was SVP & CFO of Lake Shore Gold Corp. from May 2013 to April 2016 when the business combination with Tahoe Resources was completed. Prior to this role, Phil was CFO of Patagonia Gold Plc from May 2011 to April 2013 and Vice President Finance for Kumtor Operating Co., the flag-ship subsidiary of Centerra Gold Inc. and a subsidiary of Cameco Corporation from June 2001 to May 2011. Phil received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and has served on the Board of Directors for Kumtor Operating Company, the Eurasia Foundation Central Asia and the American Chamber of Commerce Bishkek.

Alasdair Federico Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs & CSR

Alasdair Federico is an experienced lawyer and business executive with over a decade of experience in corporate strategy and governance, including managing negotiations and relationships with investors, business partners, and other stakeholders. Prior to joining the Company, Alasdair was Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Lake Shore Gold Inc., from 2008 until its acquisition by Tahoe Resources in April 2016. Prior to joining Lake Shore Gold, Alasdair worked for a prominent Canadian law firm in Toronto. Alasdair holds a holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario.

Doug Cater Vice President of Exploration, Canada

Doug Cater is a professional geologist with over 30 years of industry experience gained while working with senior Canadian based mining and exploration companies. Most recently he served as the Vice President of Exploration with St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. since 2012 and was responsible for resource expansion, and testing targets on the company’s 120 kilometre strike length of claims along the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone. Mr. Cater previously held the position of Project Manager, Back River Gold, with Sabina Gold and Silver Corp., from 2009 to 2012 and Exploration Manager with Dundee Precious Metals Inc., from 2005 to 2009. Mr. Cater also worked as Chief Geologist from 1995 to 1997 at the Macassa Mine while under operation by Kinross Gold Inc. Mr. Cater is a University of Waterloo graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree and is a council member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO), representing the Southwest Ontario district, and member of the Minister’s Mining Act Advisory Committee (MMAAC). Mr. Cater is also a Director of Sierra Metals Inc.

John Landmark Vice President of Exploration, Australia

John Landmark’s international career spans a diverse range of executive leadership, technical and advisory roles in exploration, mining operations, human resources, and safety risk management. John brings over 30 years of international mineral exploration and mining industry experience. John joined Newmarket Gold in 2016 and led the company’s exploration activities while being the Group functional head for Geology. Prior to joining Newmarket Gold, John was a Regional Head of Exploration for Anglo American plc, where he managed exploration programs for copper-gold, iron ore and coal in Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Mongolia. Prior to this role, John led Anglo American’s exploration activities in Brazil. His exploration and mining geology career started out in South Africa and Namibia, and he then moved on to Australia. John holds a Master of Science in Exploration and Mining Geology from James Cook University in Australia and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology from Wits University in South Africa.

Meri Verli Senior Vice President Finance & Treasurer

Ms. Verli is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with 15+ years of progressive experience in the mining sector, including financial planning and strategy, treasury and financial reporting management, M&A analysis and business integration. Prior to joining the Company in September 2016, Ms. Verli was Vice President Finance at Lake Shore Gold Corp. since 2007 until its acquisition by Tahoe Resources in April 2016. While at Lake Shore Gold, Meri played a key role in building the finance and treasury department, including policies, reporting and internal controls as well as cost reduction initiatives as Lake Shore transitioned from a junior exploration company to a commercial producer. Prior to joining Lake Shore Gold Ms. Verli was with KPMG in the audit and consulting practice, serving several mining clients and ended her tenure as Senior Manager in the firm’s audit practice. Ms. Verli holds a Bachelors of Economy, a Bachelors of Geology and a PhD in Economic Sciences.

Pierre Rocque Vice President of Technical Services

Mr. Rocque is a mining engineer with over 25 years of experience. He has worked at many gold mines in Canada, including as Vice President Engineering for St Andrew Goldfields, Director Technical Services at Lake Shore Gold, Chief Engineer at the Red Lake, QR and Macassa mines, Rock Mechanics Engineer at Hemlo's Golden Giant Mine and various mining engineering roles at Hoyle Pond and Agnico-Eagle's Joutel mines. Mr. Rocque also worked as Manager Mine Improvement Projects and Chief Engineer-Geotechnical at WMC (now BHP Billiton) Olympic Dam mine in Australia. Most recently, Mr. Rocque was the Global Practice Director – Mining at Hatch. Mr. Rocque graduated from l'Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal with a Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering and from Queen's University at Kingston with a Master's degree in Mining Engineering.

Jennifer Wagner Corporate Legal Counsel

Ms. Wagner is a corporate securities lawyer with over a decade of experience in the mining sector. Prior to joining Kirkland Lake Gold in July 2015, she acted as legal counsel and corporate secretary to various TSX and TSXV listed mining companies. Ms. Wagner has extensive experience advising companies on a variety of corporate commercial transactions, governance and compliance matters. She started her career at a prominent Canadian law firm in Toronto. Ms. Wagner received a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and an LL.B. from the University of Windsor.

Raymond Yip Vice President of Business Intelligence

Raymond Yip is a computer engineer with over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, with 10 years in the mining sector. Most recently, he served as Director, Information Systems for Lake Shore Gold Corp. since 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Yip provided IT consulting services to various mining companies including QuadraFNX, DMC Mining and Torex Gold. Having held progressively senior positions at a major Canadian telecommunications company, Mr. Yip has diverse IT experience across various industries including financial, healthcare and automotive. Mr. Yip holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Queen’s University.

Ryan King Vice President of Investor Relations

Ryan King brings an established approach to investor relations, with specific and targeted applications for delivering shareholder value in the mining industry. Ryan has over 13 years of experience in increasingly senior capacities in capital markets in the resource sector and was responsible for leading the investor relations activities for Newmarket Gold, as the company attained significant growth and completed a transformational merger with Kirkland Lake Gold. Before joining Newmarket Gold, Ryan was involved in the acquisition of Terrane Metals in 2010 by Thompson Creek for $800 million. During his career, Ryan has assisted in raising $250 million for previous companies. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Royal Roads University in British Columbia, Canada.

Galina Meleger Director of Corporate Communications

Galina Meleger has worked in the resource sector as a communications professional for ten years and was previously responsible for leading corporate communications initiatives at Newmarket Gold. Prior to that, Galina worked for KGHM, a Polish based mining company, responsible for internal and external communications for the North & South American division of KGHM. In 2010, Galina worked for Copper Mountain Mining Corporation, a Canadian based mining company, as a Corporate Communications & Investor Relations Manager, supporting external communications, investor relations and media initiatives for the company. Galina studied at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), completing a Business Diploma in Financial Management.
